Port-Opoly is back to get holiday shopping rolling in Port Jefferson

|

Port-Opoly is back for its second go-around in downtown Port Jefferson.

Last year, the Port Jefferson Retailer Association organized the game where patrons get the chance to win prizes by shopping at local retailers.

Here’s how it works:

Shoppers pick up their Port-Opoly game boards at any of the participating locations (which appear below in the mock game board).

The more stores that are visited, the more stamps, hole punches or special markings shoppers get on the back of their game boards.

The 2018 winners will be drawn from among the cards with the most stamps.

In its inaugural year, the game was a big success, says Steve Muñoz of The Amazing Olive.

“It was a great turnout; we had three winners,” he said. “The man who won the grand prize was really excited because he got all of his holiday shopping done before the rush and won a prize on top of it.”

Some of those prizes included items from the different shops as well as “retailer bucks,” which are redeemable at participating locations as well.

This year’s game runs from Oct. 6 through Nov. 12.

There are some new faces taking part in this year’s Port-Opoly, such as Birch & Main, Port Jefferson Pilates and Thomas Kinkaid.

“We’re super excited as a brand-new retailer in Port Jeff to be part of this, part of the community, and to see some new faces in the store,” said Birch & Main owner Michael McPolin.
