Postal worker busted with stolen mail and cocaine in Wantagh

|

A Wantagh postal worker is set to appear in court today following his arrest for allegedly stealing mail and carrying a bag of cocaine, police said in multiple reports.

Nassau County police said staff at the U.S. Post Office in Wantagh contacted authorities about 2:30 p.m. Thursday to report a co-worker suspected of taking parcels. Officers arriving at the scene discovered multiple pieces of mail in the back seat of the worker’s personal vehicle, authorities said.

The employee, Daniel Schultz, 40, of Levittown, was also found to be carrying a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, police said.

Schultz faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, second-degree criminal tampering and three counts of petit larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
