The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is coming to Long Island in 2020.

The fledgling professional field lacrosse league, which operates on a tour-based schedule, has chosen Stony Brook University’s 12,300-seat Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium as its Week 3 destination

From June 12-13, there will be three lacrosse games played, including a televised matchup on the 13th.

This is the first time the league, which debuted in 2019, will be playing on the island. The PLL did play at nearby Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. in its inaugural year.

“We are ecstatic to be coming back to New York and expanding our reach to the rabid lacrosse fan base on Long Island,” said PLL co-founder and CEO Mike Rabil. “Long Island has always been a hotbed for the sport and nearly a third of our players were born and raised in the area.”

PLL made the announcement on Tuesday, after already committing to Foxborough, Mass. in Week 1 at Gilette Stadium (Week 1) and Atlanta’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Week 2.

The PLL season runs 14-weeks long. To learn more about the league, the rest of its 2020 schedule, its seven teams or tickets visit premierlacrosseleague.com.
