Radio rendition of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ set for Nov. 26 at Patchogue Theatre

|

You’ll have two options this holiday season.
  1. Wait to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” during the PBS telethon.
  2. Head to Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts the Saturday after Thanksgiving to watch the radio version performed on stage.

Alright, so it’s 2016, not 1986, and there are quite a few more options for consuming the eminent holiday perennial — at your convenience and in the comfort of your own home.

But the show planned for 3 p.m. on Nov. 26 is nothing quite like what you’d find on your TV, or even other theatric renditions elsewhere in Long Island playhouses.

Here, five actors will be performing dozens of characters for a radio-style interpretation of It’s a Wonderful Life by Joe Landry, that uses nothing but voices and sound effects.

The show will be directed by Gene Durney and stars Lauren Ware, Tony Butera, Dennis Hartin, John Castiglione and Cindy Clifford of WALK 97.5FM’s “WALK Breakfast Club with Mark and Cindy;” with foley effects by Leer Leary.
