Real estate firm ‘For Good Realty’ donates check from its first closing

The family-owned Long Island real estate firm For Good Realty launched this year with a novel idea: a pledge to donate 5 percent of all commissions to a charity of a client’s choice.

This month, For Good Realty sat for their first closing, then cut a $660 check to The Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers Foundation. The team went to Staten Island and delivered the check in person.

“We are honored to be selected as a partner and look forward to a long lasting relationship,” a Tunnels to Towers representative said in a statement.

Stephen Siller was a city firefighter with Brooklyn’s Squad 1. He famously drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel during the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, but it was closed.

“Determined to carry out his duty, he strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back, and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others,” the nonprofit website reads.

Runs on that same route have since been held in his memory and honor.

For Good Realty, with offices in Holtsville, was founded by Melissa Zwaik, David Zwaik, and Jake Zwaik, who got their start in real estate over a decade ago. Melissa and Dave Zwaik are husband and wife. Jake is Dave’s brother. They were all raised in Blue Point.

“We feel so grateful to have the opportunity to do what we love, elevate the standard of service to our clients, and help improve our local communities simultaneously,” said Melissa. “We are proud to live, work, play, and raise our children here and we are committed to giving back.”
