Relish’s new spot in Hauppauge picks up where it left off before lockdowns

|

It officially opened right before the pandemic, but then had to temporarily close barely two weeks later.

After months of construction within the shell of the former Pizza Hut at 551 Hauppauge Road, Relish’s goal was to bring good food and atmosphere to its second location.

They opened in March and, after the COVID lockdowns, were able to serve diners in their outside patio this spring and eventually allow limited indoors seating.

That all kept the buzz going this summer at Relish.

“It was busy all throughout the summer,” morning manager Nancy Fitzpatrick told GreaterSmithtown. “And now breakfast is starting to pick up, as well.”

Relish opened its first location in Kings Park. That’s been a popular spot ever since. Fitzpatrick said the Hauppauge location is a bit different in comparison.

“The Kings Park location is a little smaller,” she said. “And the menu is a little different – it’s more upscale and we have a full open bar.”

Inside the restaurant is a large dining area and the outdoor seating is expected to remain available all fall. Comfy booths outside are enclosed with panels for the cooler months, and feature heating lamps to keep patrons warm while fresh air circulates the space.

There will be live music outside Thursday through Saturday.

“The are so many things we want to do,” Fitzpatrick added.

Known for their breakfast hashes and Benedict options, she described Relish’s lunch and dinner menus as phenomenal.

She also suggested the ever-changing weekly specials.

“Relish has a beautiful atmosphere, friendly accommodating staff and no stress,” she said. “It’s a pretty place that isn’t stuffy.”

Relish is open Sunday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 8: 30 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Click here to find the menus.
