Ross Dress for Less is hiring in Farmingville; opening bash is set

|

Ross Dress for Less is continuing its nationwide growth — with Long Island playing a key role.

The discount department store opened its first Island location in Hempstead this summer, where lines wrapped outside during its opening week.

A second store is nearly set to debut in Farmingville at Expressway Plaza, 2280 N. Ocean Ave., next to Skechers and a few doors down from Burlington.

Ross has posted multiple jobs for that store, including retail associate and overnight stock associate, listing the Farmingville address.

WALK 97.5 will host a grand-opening event at the Farmingville store on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to WALK-FM event listing.

Ross previously told Newsday the Farmingville location is expected to open in October 2025.

Riverhead on deck

A recent Newsday report confirmed Ross is also planning a third Long Island location in Riverhead, taking part of the former TJ Maxx space at 1120 Old Country Road. The Riverhead store is reportedly expected to open in 2026.

National growth

The Long Island expansion comes as part of a larger nationwide strategy. In June and July, Ross Stores, Inc. opened 28 Ross Dress for Less and three dd’s DISCOUNTS across 16 states and Puerto Rico, and plans about 90 new stores in fiscal 2025 — roughly 80 of them Ross locations, GLI previously reported.

Ross Dress for Less, headquartered in Dublin, Calif., is the nation’s largest off-price apparel and home fashion chain, now operating 2,200+ locations across 44 states, D.C., Guam and Puerto Rico.
