SALT expanding to East Moriches with new waterfront location

A popular waterfront restaurant is expanding east.

SALT on the Water, a longtime staple in Merrick, is set to open a second Long Island location this summer — this time in East Moriches, taking over the former ITA Kitchen space, ownership confirmed to Greater Long Island.

The new outpost is targeting an opening timeline of late June, with hopes of welcoming guests before the Fourth of July, according to ownership.

The East Moriches location will mirror the coastal, boat-friendly experience that has made the Merrick original a destination for more than a decade — with a focus on the area’s strong Moriches Bay boating community. Tap here to see the menu.

Plans for the space include indoor and outdoor dining, along with a refreshed design to fit the brand’s signature waterfront vibe.

Boaters will be a major part of the experience. The restaurant expects to offer around 10 dedicated boat slips, with service available directly to guests on their boats.

Beyond everyday dining, the new SALT will also lean into private events, including weddings, showers and catered gatherings, as well as partnerships with nearby wineries to cater to the East End tourism crowd.
