Scenes from the first-ever Long Island Pizza Festival in Huntington

|

It was a party with the paisans in Huntington on Saturday — and everyone was invited.

Pizza lovers from across Long Island heeded the call, descending on Mill Dam Park at the foot of Huntington Harbor for a day of pure indulgence.

Nearly two dozen pizza purveyors from Nassau and Suffolk were on hand, ready to dish. And dish they did: the organizers of the first-ever Long Island Pizza Festival even ran out of the mini pizza boxes used for slices and had to switch to paper plates.

There were no contests this time — though maybe next year — just a celebration of pizza.
