Services for Joseph Gallo, 91, former Sayville Little League president

Former Sayville Little League President Joseph P. Gallo, a paratrooper during the Korean War, died on Saturday, June 26.

“JP” Gallo lived in Sayville for 55 years before moving to Bayport with his wife Joanne in 2014. Born Nov. 4, 1929, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, to Italian immigrants, he was the youngest of seven children.

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he worked at the Long Island Rail Road and soon settled in Sayville with his wife. The couple raised five children, each of whom are alumni of Sayville High School.

It was during the 1970s that Gallo led the Sayville Little League. He was also a member of the Lions Club.

Preceded in death by his wife, Gallo is survived by their children, Joanne Agoglia, Matthew Gallo, Nancy Russell, Joseph Gallo Jr., and Jamie Flores, as well as four grandchildren, Alexandra Russell, Olivia Russell, Aidan Flores and Lola Flores.
