Services for Richard ‘Dick’ Wolfe, 83, longtime West Sayville volunteer firefighter

|

Richard “Dick” Wolfe, a volunteer firefighter with the West Sayville Fire Department for 65 years, passed away on Jan. 28. He was 83.

Married for over 60 years, Wolfe and his wife had three children and six grandchildren. He was a loving father and grandfather, a devoted New York Jets fan and a trumpet player in the fire department’s marching band.

“Dad loved all of us in his own unique way.  When he did say he loved you it meant so much as he never overused that word,” Wolfe’s daughter Denise wrote in a tribute to her dad. “It always came from the heart… My Dad would love when the kids would sit next to him, (near) the fireplace and just chat about their life with him.”

Denise added that her father “gave me my determination and will that I have today and for that I will always be grateful.”
