Pedestrian seriously injured crossing Montauk Highway in Shirley

A Shirley man suffered serious injuries Friday night when he was hit by a car as he was crossing Montauk Highway, Suffolk police said.

Thomas Shane, 33, was hit as he attempted to walk south across the highway by a westbound 2015 Ford Escape at 9:53 p.m., cops said.

Shane was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk Patchogue. The driver of the Ford, Marvin Gonzalez-Martinez, 27, of Mastic, was not injured, police said.

Suffolk Police Seventh Squad detectives impounded the vehicle for a safety check.
