Liz Plotz grew up garage-sailing with her parents and grandparents.

Decades later, her life-long passion for vintage has taken her to downtown Patchogue, where she opened South Shore Vintage in 2016.

Plotz gained a following online before opening a brick-and-mortar store at 76 North Ocean Avenue, after outgrowing her storage spaces. Today at South Shore Vintage you’ll find barware, kitchenware, decorative items, furniture, lighting, vintage clothing and more.

There’s even an old bean bag toss came that dates to the 1960s or 1970s.

“The vibe or the style I’m going for is a little more modern, not so much antiques,” Plotz says. “I do have some antiques but we’re mostly focusing on midcentury, from the 50s all the way through the 90s.”

“Sometimes you go into any of these antique stores and they’re just completely filled with junk, and it could be overwhelming,” she continued. “You don’t want to touch anything. Here I want people to see everything and touch everything … I want it to be cool, but not too stuffy.”
