Shuckers food truck launches in Eastport

|

An Eastport food truck launched last weekend under new management specializing in lobster rolls and tacos.

The food truck, formerly 27 Eats, is now called Shuckers. It remains located at Hampton Watercraft at 50 South Bay Ave., and it is the second truck run by Patrick McCormack, 44 of East Quogue, and John Heeney, of Hampton Bays.

McCormack previously owned a restaurant called Shuckers in Hampton Bays for eight years, where Heeney was the chef. It closed in 2018. The duo then went into the food truck business.

So far, the new venture is a success, McCormack said.

“Memorial Day weekend was fantastic,” he said. “We were packed all weekend.”

Menu items include chicken, blackened tuna and blackened shrimp tacos; Philly cheesesteak and chicken Caesar salad wraps; hot and cold lobster rolls; coconut shrimp; and hot dogs.

The truck will operate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until mid-June and then expand its days of operation from Thursday to Sunday.

The first food truck is on hold right until restrictions are lifted for catering and festivals.

Shuckers is working on completing an updated website, which will allow customers to order online. It also plans to add 11 tables at the Eastport location when the state allows.

With awards from his best chili and taco awards under his belt from his restaurant years, McCormack promises, “We’ve got the best tacos around.”
