Shuttered TGI Fridays in Farmingville lined up for TFCU branch

After years of sizzling burgers and loaded potato skins, the former TGI Fridays in Farmingville is headed for a quieter future. Teachers Federal Credit Union is planning a new branch at the site, with an opening projected for the second half of 2026, according to credit union officials.

The new branch will be built directly across the street from the current Farmingville location. Officials said the existing branch will remain fully operational during construction, allowing members to continue accessing services without interruption.

“Farmingville has played a meaningful role in the Teachers Federal Credit Union story, and this investment reflects our ongoing commitment to the community,” said Brad Calhoun, president and CEO of Teachers Federal Credit Union. “As we continue to grow, our priority remains the same: delivering exceptional service in environments where our members feel truly supported.”

Calhoun said the new branch is intended to reflect the future of banking at Teachers Federal Credit Union, with a modern design focused on member service and relationship-building.

According to credit union officials, the timeline reflects a deliberate approach to planning and construction, with an emphasis on ensuring a smooth transition once the new location opens. Teachers Federal Credit Union has served the Farmingville community for nearly 46 years.

Officials said the new branch will offer the same services currently available to members, but in an updated space designed to support in-person consultations and customer service.

TGI Fridays closed its Farmingville location earlier this year, along with its Riverhead restaurant, amid ongoing financial struggles for the Dallas-based chain. The closures leave TGI Fridays with just two remaining locations on Long Island: one at the Central Islip Town Center and another at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.
