Slappin’ Chick, the Nashville hot chicken joint that made waves in Hicksville and Astoria, just landed in Selden.
The new spot at 1245 Middle Country Road will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., with free sliders and fries (one per guest).
The Selden shop is cozy — just 12 seats — but the company believes it’s the right fit for their growing brand.
“Selden is a growing area, very diversified, has great demographics, and it’s near Stony Brook University,” a Slappin’ Chick spokesperson told Greater Long Island.
From Hicksville to Selden
Brothers Aziz and Zafar Ahmad launched Slappin’ Chick in 2019 after “meticulous planning and a dedicated effort,” Aziz explained. Their goal was simple: bring a product to market that stood out for quality and flavor.
The first location opened on North Broadway in Hicksville, quickly becoming a go-to for Nashville hot chicken fans. A few years later, they expanded into Astoria, Queens, before setting their sights back on Long Island with the Selden shop.
The fast-casual restaurant specializes in halal Nashville hot chicken, served in sandwiches, tenders, and combo plates. It’s designed to be simple, flavorful and affordable.
