Sneak peek: Look inside Eastern Suffolk’s new Mister Softee storefront

|

Mister Softee is officially scooping into Center Moriches.

The iconic ice cream brand is swinging the doors open at 812 Montauk Highway — taking over the former Ultimate Ice Cream & Ice, a longtime community favorite. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the grand opening.

It marks Mister Softee’s second brick-and-mortar storefront on Long Island. The other launched in East Islip earlier this year.

“For the past five years, our Mister Softee trucks have been proud to serve this amazing community,” the company posted on social media. “Now, we’re taking the next step and opening a Mister Softee store right here in town. We’re honored to carry on [the Ultimate Ice Cream] tradition, and we can’t wait to welcome you through our doors to enjoy your favorite cones, shakes, and sundaes.”

A family tradition

The new store is owned by Antonio Guler, 26, of Shirley, whose family roots run deep with the brand. He’s the grandson of Giovanni Digristinia, a longtime Mister Softee truck franchisee on Long Island.

Guler said he plans to keep much of what made Ultimate Ice Cream beloved by locals — including the $1.50 cone special, Italian ices, scooped ice cream, and the popular buy-one-get-one Tuesday deals.

“We’re going to keep everything basically the same as the previous owner,” Guler told Greater Long Island. “We’re just going to be adding the Mister Softee self-serve.”

What to know

  • The shop will be open year-round.
  • It offers walk-in service (instead of ordering through a window).
  • Classic Ultimate Ice Cream specials — including the BOGO Tuesdays — are sticking around.
