An increasingly popular name in Long Island coffee is continuing its stretch along the North Shore — this time a bit more to the east.

Southdown Coffee announced this past weekend they are opening their fifth location, which will be in Port Jefferson, this fall.

Owner Mark Boccard confirmed with greaterportjeff.com that he’s looking to debut Southdown Coffee sometime in November at The Brookport Port Jefferson luxury apartments, located at 440 Main St.

“It’s a great town, a lot of history, and a lot of similarities between the other towns where we currently operate,” Boccard said. “We loved the space and the opportunity, so it was a no-brainer.”

Southdown Coffee’s other locations are Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, Huntington and Northport.

Without giving too much away, Boccard said this new location will be a special one.

“We’re going to have our most exciting coffee bar in terms of what we’ll be able to prepare and how,” he said. “There will be equipment that will ensure our coffee-prep is at the highest level possible, and also we can highlight our single-origin coffee and roasters.”

With a larger kitchen compared to the other spots, Southdown Coffee in Port Jefferson will also have an expanded baking program led by pastry chef Kelsie Reynolds.

“Coming through 2020, 2021 has been a lot better for us and it’s exciting moving into new territory and to continue to grow,” he said. “We have a great team, we are an employee-owned company — the staff has a percentage of ownership in the company — which makes it really exciting every time we expand and bring more people in.”
