Two of Northwell Health’s top executives will be honored this September at the annual Distinguished Citizen Dinner in Bay Shore.
The event takes place Thursday, Sept. 18, at Captain Bill’s and will recognize Michael Dowling, President & CEO of Northwell Health, along with Mark Solazzo, President of Strategic Initiatives and Chief Operating Officer.
Hosted by the Greater Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce, the evening will celebrate both leaders for their lasting contributions to the Bay Shore community.
Northwell Health’s commitment to South Shore University Hospital has been central to Bay Shore’s revitalization. Once facing closure, the hospital has become a growing regional medical hub — preserving critical services while fueling economic growth.
“Northwell Health has been a driving force in bringing economic vitality to the Bay Shore community,” said Edward Fraser of the Greater Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce. “Through its steadfast commitment to South Shore University Hospital, what was once a closing facility has been transformed into a thriving regional medical hub.”
The hospital’s success has attracted new businesses, supported job creation and helped reshape downtown Bay Shore. What was once a struggling district now features over 25 restaurants and 11 retail shops — and counting.
The Distinguished Citizen Dinner is expected to draw leaders from across business, healthcare, and local government for an evening of recognition, connection, and community pride.
