Police hope the public can help to identify a man who they said offered $300 to a 14-year-old girl as she walked from Smithtown High School East in St. James.
The girl was walking from the school about 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 11 when a man parked a black Audi SUV in front of her at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and 6th Street, police said. The man made an inappropriate comment and offered her $300, according to cops.
The man is described as white, bald and between 40 and 50 years old.
Suffolk Police Fourth Precinct Crime Section detectives are investigating the “endangering the welfare of a child” case. Police released surveillance images of the SUV on Thursday.
