It’s Stony Brook Film Festival, but on-demand.

That’s what’s going on for the popular film festival in 2020. The event on a normal year takes place at Stony Brook University’s Staller Center every year.

It’s gone virtual due to the on-going pandemic.

The film fest began showing movies on Sept 10 online and will release new works every Thursday until Dec. 15.

In total, there are 24 films accepted into the festival. As always, there is a mix of U.S. and international films.

People can purchase festival passes or single tickets at stonybrookfilmfestival.com.

“In these very uncertain and precarious times we find ourselves in,” said Festival director Alan Inkles, “We hope the mix of these socially conscience films balanced with uplifting, often fun and joyous stories, with spectacular performances, will provide the stimulation and entertainment we are all so desperately craving.”

Here’s how it works:

  1. Click “Purchase All-Access Pass” or choose Single Tickets by clicking on the “Tickets and More Information” button on the week you want.
  2. Create IndieFlix Festivals account
  3. Complete checkout to purchase your pass/tickets. You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours of purchase.
  4. Choose which service you’d like to use to watch (IndieFlix Festivals app is available on smart tvs via Roku, Apple TV, and Chromecast, mobile devices via the IndieFlix Festivals app, or you can stream directly from the web to your computer)
  5. Kick back and enjoy!
