Stony Brook football had its third-ever player added to an active NFL roster

|

Stony Brook University now has its third-ever player activated to an NFL roster.

According to CBS Sports, offensive linemen Timon Parris was upgraded from the Washington Redskins practice team to the active roster on Friday. He will be available for this Saturday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

The former All-American at SBU– who was thought to be the first-ever Seawolf to be drafted in the NFL— was signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent this spring.

The Floral Park native now joins fellow Seawolves, tight end Will Tye (2015) and linebacker Victor Ochi (2016), as the only Stony Brook products to be active for an NFL game.

Out of the three, Tye has been Stony Brook’s most successful alum on the gridiron, catching 94 receptions for 897 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons combined with the New York Giants and New York Jets (2015-17).

He’s now a practice squad member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
