Suffolk County Police Department hosts free women’s self-defense class

|

Don’t mess with these ladies.

The Suffolk County Police Department Sixth Precinct teamed up with Carlos Henrique Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Mount Sinai on Aug. 26 to host their first free self-defense class for women.

The goal of the training program is to help women feel confident in their abilities to protect themselves if they are in a dangerous situation.

“We hope these women never have to use the tools they recently learned. However, they are now all equipped with the skills to defend themselves from harm,” the Suffolk County Police Department said in their Facebook post.

There are a few more sessions planned for the next several weeks at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu center, located at 27 Route 25A in Mount Sinai.
