Do you know a special senior? Of course you do.
Well now’s your chance to let the wider world recognize that person through nominating her or him for Suffolk County’s Senior Citizen of the Year Award for 2018.
The award recognizes a senior citizen who has significantly contributed to other seniors and residents in a meaningful and important way – either as an advocate, role model, leader or volunteer, according to the county’s office for the aging, which is now accepting nominations.
This impact can be felt either countywide or in one of Suffolk County’s local communities.
“Each year we pay a special recognition to those individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference for their neighbors in their community,” said Bellone. “I encourage residents to take a moment and nominate an outstanding person for a chance to join this exclusive group of honorees.”
All nominations will be accepted until Feb. 21. Candidates must be 60 years of age or older and a resident of Suffolk County.
There will be an award dinner to congratulate the honoree on May 17 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook.
