The quad-riders known to zip freely through the Heartland business parks, often weaving through commuters and parents picking kids up at gymnastics or headed to and from a jump place, got a surprise on Sunday.
That’s when Suffolk police officers descended on the area, impounding a stolen quad along the way.
But that wasn’t all, the quality-of-life operation saw police fan out across western Suffolk, targeting specific areas in response to community concerns involving numerous noise and safety complaints.
The police hit up not only Heartland, but other locations in Commack and Melville, the Brentwood Park & Ride and the Hauppauge industrial park.
They issued multiple traffic citations and “thwarted numbers efforts to congregate.”
“The Suffolk County Police Department will continue this enforcement throughout the summer,” police said.
