Suffolk’s last Boston Market replaced by Tex’s Chicken and Burgers, in Selden

|

Long Islanders looking for a taste of Boston Market will need to head west.

That’s because the last location in Suffolk, located in Selden, has closed down and has been replaced by a late-night fast food chain.

The shift comes amidst challenges for the embattled rotisserie chicken chain, which has faced declining sales and an $11.3 million lawsuit over unpaid bills.

With closures sweeping across the nation in 2023, Boston Market’s presence on Long Island has dwindled, with the nearest remaining outposts in Queens and Brooklyn.

Taking the place of the former Boston Market spot in Selden is Tex’s Chicken and Burgers, a rapidly expanding halal-certified chain formerly known as Texas Chicken and Burgers before a recent rebranding.

Originating in The Bronx, Tex’s boasts over 40 locations across New York City, Albany, Philadelphia, and on Long Island.

Tex’s Chicken and Burgers in Selden, located at 966 Middle Country Road, hosted its grand opening on Thursday, marking its third location on the island alongside establishments in Hicksville and Centereach.

Plans for further expansion include upcoming locations in Shirley and East Islip, with the latter situated in a former Boston Market site.

Offering extended hours until 4 a.m. on weekdays and 5 a.m. on weekends, Tex’s is poised to cater to late-night cravings across the island.
