Suffolk’s Top 10 high schools in U.S. News’ 2024 rankings

Cold Spring Harbor High School is the highest rated Suffolk County school in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best New York High Schools” rankings for 2024.

The 500-student school is one of four Suffolk high schools among the top 100 public high schools in the state, according to the report. Cold Spring Harbor is No. 36 in the state; Harborfields in Greenlawn is No. 54; and Half Hollow Hills’ East and West high schools are ranked Nos. 55 and 63, respectively.

U.S. News released its nationwide 2024 Best High Schools rankings today — rating 17,660 schools of the more than 25,000 it reviewed. BASIS Peoria in Arizona jumped from No. 12 in 2023 to claim the top spot in the country for 2024.

New York City Public Schools landed nine high schools in the top 100 Best High Schools nationwide. Nassau County has 15 of New York state’s best high school, according to U.S. News.

Cold Spring Harbor High School boasts 100 percent graduation and math proficiency rates. Additionally, 90 percent of its students take at least one AP exam during their high school years.
