Summer break behind them, Sachem students return to school

|

The Sachem Central School District welcomed students back for the 2022-2023 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Opening day’s wet weather did not dampen the spirits of Sachem students, who appeared to be all smiles upon their return to school.

“We are looking forward to a school year where we can all be together and celebrate one another, in a caring environment, where teachers want to teach, and students want to learn,” Sachem schools Superintendent Chris Pellettieri said in a letter to the community prior to the first day of school.

Among the changes in Sachem schools this year is the district’s shift to a nine-period day for its secondary school buildings. The district has also partnered with Northwell Health to introduce a “Culture of Carin” initiative that will bring increased focus the social and emotional well being of students and staff.
