This Long Island pizzeria just cracked the top 5 slice shops in the U.S. — for a third straight year

Taglio again cracks Top 50 Pizza's annual Best Slice list. Owner Rob Cervoni with a slice.

Rob Cervoni’s streak continues.

Taglio Pizza, the Roman-style slice shop Cervoni founded in Mineola in 2018, has been named the fifth-best slice shop in the United States by 50 Top Pizza — the Italy-based guide considered among the most prestigious pizza rankings in the world.

It is the third consecutive year the Long Island pizzeria has made the list.

The No. 5 ranking is a two-spot slide from the No. 3 position Taglio held in both 2024 and 2025. Nonetheless, it keeps Cervoni’s shop in elite company as the only Long Island pizzeria on the list.

The guide highlights the shop’s square, Roman-style pizza al taglio, which is baked in rectangular trays, cut to order, with a crispy bottom and a light, airy interior. Burrata, mortadella and pistachio are among the standout combinations cited.

In Mineola and Massapequa

Taglio operates its original shop at 85 Mineola Blvd. in Mineola and a second location at 113 Front St. in Massapequa Park, which opened last year on the strength of the national buzz.

In 2025, Taglio also cracked the 50 Top Pizza world rankings, landing at No. 99 globally.

Cervoni, a Great Neck native, opened Long Island’s first Roman-style pizzeria after training under Roman pizza master Massimiliano Saieva.

His first 50 Top Pizza appearance in 2024 triggered a wave of media attention and daily dough sellouts that he said turned the business into “a different animal.”
