Commonly known as the VMAs, the awards show was broadcast live from Elmont and ran for about three hours.
Some of the highlights from this year’s show included performances by hip hop legends Eminem and LL Cool J (a Bay Shore native), Sabrina Carpenter kissing an alien, and Taylor Swift winning “Artist of the Year.”
Swift also won “Video of the Year,” the show’s top prize, bringing her night’s total to seven “Moonman” trophies.
During her acceptance speech, she made sure to acknowledge her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, the Super Bowl-winning tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic,” she said. “I want to thank him for adding that to this shoot.”
Now, she has 30 all-time VMAs, tying her with Beyoncé for the most in history.
