Texas Roadhouse in Selden set to open officially this month

|

Construction is finishing up for Long Island’s newest Texas Roadhouse, located on Middle Country Road in Selden.

Back in February, GreaterPortJeff learned that the chain was planning a spring opening, but now the restaurant’s managing partner, Kristina Wilson, said it’s finally happening in just a few weeks.

“Construction will wrap up within the next two weeks,” she said, adding that their estimated opening date is Monday, Aug. 31. “We were slated to open at the end of spring but postponed to the pandemic. We are grateful and excited to open in a few short weeks!”

Wilson has been with Texas Roadhouse for more than 10 years. She started out as a hostess and quickly moved her way through the ranks, working the first three international openings as an international corporate trainer.

In 2013, she became a manager and worked her way up to become the owner of the Selden location, one of the youngest in the company. “I am extremely excited to bring Texas Roadhouse to the Town of Brookhaven,” she said.

The new location is in the space that once held Ruby Tuesday at 289 Middle Country Road intersecting with Route 83 in the Selden Plaza shopping center. This will be the third Texas Roadhouse to come to Long Island — one is in East Meadow and the other in Deer Park.

“The community can expect to dine at the friendliest place in town,” Wilson said. “We will be seating 50% capacity indoors and offer take-out as well. Guests can place take-out orders on our mobile app, online, by phone or in person.”

After opening in 1993, the Kentucky-based company has over 520 locations in the U.S. and 10 worldwide. On average, its restaurants average 5,000 guests per week and serve 300,000 meals per day, according to Texas Roadhouse.

“We have a professional butcher and baker at every location,” Wilson said. “The butchers, or meat cutters, hand-cut every steak in a 34-degree cooler and cut an average of $1 million of meat a year, per store. Our bakers are responsible for making our yeast rolls from scratch every day. Our legendary bread is baked fresh every five minutes and served piping hot, along with our homemade cinnamon butter to guests as they are seated.”

The new Selden location is currently hiring. Although they are almost fully staffed, they are looking for back-of-house kitchen employees. Applicants are encouraged to apply online.
