Teachers Federal Credit Union gave a $5,000 boost to the Stony Brook University Hospital Healthcare Meal Program, an ongoing initiative where Stony Brook Village eateries are feeding local frontline health care workers.
Stony Brook Village restaurants — which include the Three Village Inn, Fratelli’s, Crazy Beans, Sweet Mama’s, among others — have delivered over 6,000 meals to Stony Brook University Hospital employees thus far.
Teachers presented the check for this cause last week.
“From employees, to members, to neighbors, the foundation of Teachers has always been our community,” said Brad Calhoun, president and CEO of Teachers Federal Credit Union. “During these unprecedented times, our organization is channeling our passion for the communities we serve by supporting our healthcare professionals on the frontlines of COVID-19 and the local small businesses that have been financially impacted.”
The village center was beyond thankful for the donation.
“This example of coming together in a time of crisis and giving freely of yourself is the true definition of community,” said Gloria Rocchio, president of the Ward Melville Heritage Organization, which operates the historic shopping center. “We thank Teachers Federal Credit Union for coming forward with their contribution to this important program.”
Teachers has also donated to similar initiatives in communities in Port Jefferson, Patchogue, Bay Shore, and Babylon. Read about each effort below.
