The Barn — a Long Island café concept breathing new life into former Dairy Barn properties — will open its newest location Friday morning in Ronkonkoma.
The Ronkonkoma café, located at 370 Hawkins Ave., will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Owner Irena Angeliades told Greater Long Island that the Ronkonkoma opening is a continuation of the brand’s expansion following earlier openings in Patchogue, Northport and Huntington.
The Patchogue debut in November drew long lines, strong opening-day sales and widespread community interest, establishing the café as an immediate local hit.
As with the other locations, the Ronkonkoma shop offers two-drive-through lanes and emphasizes a casual café atmosphere centered on coffee and trendy specialty drinks and house-made treats.
To mark the opening, Angeliades said, The Barn is offering a free giant cookie with the purchase of any latte on Friday, available at all four locations, including the new Ronkonkoma café, which is expected to employ eight to 10 full-time and part-time workers, with hiring ongoing.
New Life for Long Island’s Dairy Barns
The Ronkonkoma opening also coincides with the launch of several new menu items, debuting exclusively at Angeliades’ four The Barn locations.
Beginning Friday, the café will introduce its “New Year, New Me” latte series, which features three new low-fat, low-sugar lattes, each starting at 60 calories. Angeliades said calorie counts and ingredients will be clearly posted for each drink.
In addition, The Barn is adding a peanut butter energy shake boasting more than 30 grams of protein. The shake is served with a protein pop ball, replacing the cake pops typically paired with some of the café’s other specialty drinks.
Further, The Barn on New Year’s Day will launch its official website, thebarnlongisland.com.
Job seekers interested in barista or café positions are encouraged to reach out through the brand’s Instagram account, @thebarnlongisland, with resumes.
