‘The Bodyguard the Musical’ performing at The Gateway in July

|

An award-winning musical based on a smash-fit movie starring Whitney Houston is coming to Long Island this summer.

On Wednesday, July 3, The Bodyguard the Musical will be headed to The Gateway Playhouse in Bellport for previews, with an official opening that Friday.

“A breathtakingly romantic thriller, The Bodyguard features a host of irresistible
classics [songs] including ‘Queen of the Night,’ ‘So Emotional,’ ‘One Moment in Time,'” said Scot Allan of The Gateway.

The play is about a former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard named Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.

“Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love,” said Allan.

Rachel Marron will be played by actress Kimber Sprawl, who has appeared on Broadway with roles in A Bronx Tale, the Lion King and Beautiful – The Carole King Musical.

Her counterpart, Frank Farmer, will be portrayed by Michael Shenefelt, an actor whose work can be seen on The Act (Hulu), The Code (CBS), Stranger Things (Netflix) and the upcoming Lady and the Tramp (Disney) movie.

Ticket prices start at $59 with a special student rush price of $35 the day of performance with a valid student ID.
