Village Idiot brings DJ-spun brunch party Saturdays to East Main

Patchogue brunch party

The Village Idiot Pub in Patchogue will be offering a bit of a New York City-style experience for weekend revelers looking to keep the party going at brunch.

The Idiot’s DJ-spun “Turn Up for Brunch” featuring DJ Chris Rallo will run on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting Feb. 4. Brunch items become available at 10 a.m.

“More and more places are offering brunch, and we just wanted to pump up the volume a bit,” said Maureen Passantino, Village Idiot’s general manager. “And I think the DJ will really work for people in their 20s and 30s.”

VIP opened in 2010 and has been serving breakfast seven days a week almost ever since, but management cut out Monday-Friday breakfast this past fall. Breakfast is still served on weekends.

Turn Up for Brunch will actually be the first brunch offered at the Village Idiot.

Breakfast will still be available from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The special brunch menu includes items like the Waffle Sandwich, Jester Tacos and Crab Cake Sliders. There will also be four different (and exotic) Bloody Mary options, all served in carafes. [Update: Details on those Bloody Mary options appear below.]

But unlike at, say, Lavo‘s Champagne Brunch Party, the music won’t be so loud as to inhibit conversation — or discourage families with kids from showing up, Passantino said.

“What ‘kid friendly’ means usually depends on the parents,” she said. “But I could totally picture the kids dancing and having fun after they eat.”

Regular breakfast will still be served at the Village Idiot Pub from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, with acoustic sets from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
