The ‘incredible’ Biscuits & Barbeque in Mineola closes down

|

Good-bye hushpuppies. So long biscuits with raspberry butter. We’ll miss you, cornflake chicken tenders.

In news that will surely sour the stomachs of tens of thousands of cajun barbecue food lovers across Long Island, the immensely popular Biscuits & Barbeque in Mineola is shutting down. The old-school diner announced on Thursday that Saturday, June 29, will be its last day open.

“It is with a very heavy heart we announce that Biscuits & Barbecue is closing,” reads a post on the restaurant’s Instagram account. “We are so grateful to our customers and hope to see you again before our final day.”

Ownership noted that the restaurant’s building has been sold and that the new owners have other plans for it.

“We are so grateful for our wonderful chef and staff and proud of what we have accomplished through some great times and some very difficult times,” the Biscuits & Barbeque post reads. “We will remember the past twelve years with a warm and happy heart.”

Word of the closure crushed customers, who will miss the restaurant’s “super friendly” staff as much as the delicious food. One diner gushed over the eatery’s warm and fuzzy atmosphere, saying “it’s like eating at your aunt’s house.”

“This is heartbreaking. The nicest people with the best food around,” commented @leavenomorselbehind on Instagram. ” We will definitely be in to see you before you close 💚.”

In another comment, Tracy Abamont, aka @emtcchic, recalled the restaurant’s charitable contributions to the community over the years.

The Mineola volunteer ambulance Corp is so grateful for all that you have done for us with fundraising over the years,” @emtcchi wrote. “We are so sad to hear this news.

Another commenter pleaded with the restaurant, located at 106 E. 2nd St., to publish a cookbook.

“I can’t go the rest of my life without your mac and cheese and your pecan pie!!!”
