The New York Times visited the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts last week to take in a Gateway Playhouse show, Billy Elliot.
In short, the venerable paper came away from the theater happy.
“Any musical that begins with an explanation of the nationalization of the British coal mining industry, the struggles of the National Union of Mineworkers and the involvement of Margaret Thatcher has a lot to overcome,” the New York Times review reads. “‘Billy Elliot’ does so with the quicksilver elegance of a pirouette.”
Billy Elliot is running from July 22 to Aug. 8 in Patchogue.
