The Sandbar to debut this spring along the Patchogue River

|

A new waterfront dining spot is getting ready to make a splash along the Patchogue River.

Sandbar Kitchen Cocktails and Entertainment is set to open next month at 32 Baker Place, with a fresh nautical theme, Caribbean-inspired eats, and plenty of live entertainment.

The location, in the space that last housed Baja Boathouse, has been renovated under new ownership.

“I really just have had a vision in my head for years for a very relaxed place to enjoy great food and live music with friends,” said Ira Varon, who owns the location with his wife Christina.

The new space, designed by Long Islander Glen Mueller, has been completely reimagined, with themed décor like a Fire Island Lighthouse replica, surfboards, and Key West-style touches. Upgrades include a bigger dance floor, based on early feedback from locals.

The menu — led by Sag Harbor chef Jevohni “Prince” Brown — will feature a fusion of American, French, and Caribbean cuisine.

Ownership said diners should expect live music every Friday and Saturday night, boozy drag bingo on Sundays, and a DJ spinning at the outdoor bar.

The owners told Greater Long Island that a grand opening with food and drink specials is currently scheduled for Friday, May 2.
