The Friends of St. Patrick are honoring a longtime North Shore business owner with Celtic roots for its 68th Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday, March 11.
This year’s recognition went to Andrew Streeff, who first marched in the parade as a Cub Scout in 1971.
Since then, Streeff kept involved with the parade, later joining the Friends of St. Patrick in 2001.
Streeff, who is of County Kildare and Finland decent, has been the owner and chef of the Hartlin Inn in Sound Beach for the last 20 years.
“The Hartlin Inn is well known to our community, not only as a fine place to dine and meet friends, but as a staple in the community for supporting all local and scholastic organizations,” said James McElhone, with the Friends of St. Patrick.
During the parade, which kicks off at 1 p.m., Streeff will be paying tribute his late business partner, Richie Hartig, who was an active Friends of St. Patrick member himself.
“It is in the honor of Richie Hartig that Andrew Streeff accepts the honor of Grand Marshal of the 68th annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day parade,” McElhone said in an announcement.
