This weekend in Greater Patchogue

|

With school kids going back to class before the Labor Day, one might call this weekend the unofficial end of summer. Or at least the beginning of the end.

No matter what you call it, before the next weekend’s barbecues and last runs-through-the-sprinkler, get out and about in the greaterpatchogue.com coverage area.

Try one last concert in the park maybe.

Below are our top picks.

Six Gun, a country band, is playing at the Bellport Village bandshell at 8 p.m. Friday. The concert is free.

That’s followed by a free concert Saturday night at the Patchogue Village bandshell in Shorefront Park. The show is being presented jointly by the village and the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, with its Live in the Lobby crew.

According to the calendar item, the Patchogue event “will feature acoustic music by Long Island singer-songwriters The Hank Stone Band, The Folk Goddesses and The Andrew Fortier Group.”

Before that on Saturday, during the day, the Patchogue-Medford High School robotics team is having a yard sale fundraiser starting at 10 a.m. at Medford Memorial Park at Route 112 and Peconic Avenue.

And at noon Saturday is the third annual Back to School Celebration at Robert Rowley Park at 500 Patchogue Avenue in Bellport, hosted by People Making a Difference. It runs until 6 p.m. There will be free food, drink, music and games for kids, along with free back-to-school items.
