Long Island native Tim Parker has re-signed with Major League Soccer’s Red Bull New York, the club announced Friday, securing a one-year contract through the 2026 season with an option into 2027.
The deal keeps the accomplished center-back close to home as he continues a long and steady professional soccer career.
“We are excited to keep Tim at the club. He drives the standards in the locker room, and he shows tremendous leadership,” Red Bulls head coach Michael Bradley said. “Having him continue with the club is a great boost for our group.”
Parker, 32, was born and raised in Hicksville, where he became one of the region’s most decorated high school players during four years on the varsity team at Hicksville High School.
A two-time captain for the Comets, Parker earned Gatorade New York Boys Soccer Player of the Year, Nassau County Player of the Year and Newsday Long Island Player of the Year honors as a senior and helped Hicksville capture a Nassau County championship.
After high school, Parker stayed local for college, starring for St. John’s in Queens.
Over four seasons with the Red Storm — from 2011–2014 — he appeared in 79 matches, scored four goals and was a two-time All-Big East First Team selection while helping the program reach three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and win the Big East Conference title in 2011.
Parker’s professional journey began in 2015 when he was selected 13th overall in the MLS SuperDraft by the Vancouver Whitecaps.
He made his MLS debut in the spring of 2015 and quickly established himself as a reliable defender in the league.
Parker was acquired by Red Bull New York during the 2018 season after a trade from Vancouver, and immediately became a key part of the club’s defense.
In his first season with New York, he made 29 appearances, helped anchor a backline that conceded the fewest goals in the league, and was instrumental in the Red Bulls winning the Supporters’ Shield.
Parker also became the first defender in the Red Bull franchise history to score in the MLS Cup Playoffs when he found the net in the 2018 Eastern Conference Final. During his first stint with the club from 2018–2020, he totaled 92 appearances, with 83 starts, three goals and three assists.
After stops with Houston, St. Louis City SC and the New England Revolution, Parker came back to New York for the 2025 MLS season.
In a 2‑0 victory over CF Montréal in September, he scored the game‑winning goal.
Over his 11 years playing in the MLS, he has played in 287 matches.
