Great Places | Just the start of a busy weekend in Patchogue

If you were thinking about getting out of dodge for a weekend in July, maybe make it another weekend.

Alive After Five on Thursday kicked off four full days of excitement in Patchogue Village.

Alive After Five drew thousands downtown, where the streets were closed to traffic to make way for bands, vendors, food trucks, beer trailers and various other entertainers. See photos

Now tonight, Friday at 6 p.m., Family Fun Night will take to East Main Street, featuring a train ride for kids down Main Street, ponies, a petting zoo, balloon animals and plenty of outdoor and indoor dining.

Both downtown events are organized by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

Check our calendar for other local events outside the village.

After the two nights on Main Street, residents and visitors alike are invited a block south on Saturday to the Patchogue Garden Club’s 15th annual Garden Tour at 11 a.m.. Find out more about all those pretty flowers, and maybe pick up some tips from the experts.

Tickets for the garden tour are $20 per person at the community garden located at South Ocean Avenue and Terry Street.

Wind down your weekend watching 23 beautiful and talented young women compete for the titles of Miss Long Island and Miss Long Island Teen at the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts.

The pageants start at 3 p.m. Sunday. Click here for tickets.
