The Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter is once again urging the public to consider fostering or adopting medium to large mixed-breed dogs.
The town sent a public release last month with the same request, which had a great response, officials say.
“The recent success of the fosters/adopters program has provided forever homes for many dogs, but there are more available at the shelter,” said a spokesperson from the shelter. “Some dogs require a single pet household, while there are other dogs available who get along well with other dogs.”
Since the facility is closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the animal shelter is asking all interested to fill out a “Matchmaker” application online at www.BrookhavenNY.gov.
Those with questions are asked to call 631-451-6950, Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
