The parking lot has been cleared of its fountains and work is under way at the old Stop & Shop building in Islandia, which is being divided and will soon host a Burlington and Tractor Supply Co.

Burlington is eyeing a winter 2025 opening, Islandia Village officials said.

And a spokesperson for Tractor Supply said the company anticipates opening in the late spring/early summer of 2025.

Tractor Supply Co., based in Brentwood, Tenn., is already advertising for a manager trainee for the Islandia store, which will be located in the sprawling Islandia Shopping Center.

“At Tractor Supply, we are passionate about serving the needs of those who enjoy the ‘Out Here’ lifestyle,'” the spokesperson said. “Homeowners, livestock and pet owners, gardeners, hobby farmers, ranchers, tradesmen and others rely on Tractor Supply for a wide assortment of products. We’re excited to call Islandia home and serve the community with the essentials residents need to live life on their own terms.

“We’re proud to hire our customers as team members. As experts in the lifestyle, they bring more value to our customers with every interaction.”

The old fountains at the plaza, which village officials said was plagued by plumbing problems as people would often pour soap into the water to make it bubble, were toppled in November.

The ground is currently being gutted of its old infrastructure, with drainage being added (photo above).

The work will ultimately allow for more parking outside Burlington and Tractor Supply, which is already expecting to open a third Long Island location in West Babylon earlier this spring.

To the uninitiated, Tractor Supply Co., or TSC, is described as a “rural lifestyle retailer.” The company’s stores offer farm supplies, animal and pet feed, clothing, home decor, seasonal goods, tools, fencing and more.

West Babylon would be the first Tractor Supply Co. location to open on Long Island since Medford and Calverton in 2019.

Islandia will mark the company’s fourth location in Suffolk. There are none in Nassau County.

As of September 28, 2024, TSC operated 2,270 Tractor Supply stores in 49 states, the company’s website reads.

Tractor Supply has been in business for over 85 years and employs more than 50,000 people.
