All vehicles will be detoured off the highway at exit 44 onto the North Service Road and reenter the road after Brook Avenue beginning on Friday, November 13 at 10 p.m. until Saturday, November 14 at 6 p.m. Closures will no longer take place on Saturday night, Sunday, and early Monday morning.
Two lanes will be closed weeknights beginning Monday, November 16 until Tuesday, November 24 between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning between exit 44 (Brentwood Road) and exit 43 (Fifth Avenue).
Unfavorable weather conditions expected this weekend has made it necessary to alter the original work schedule. As with most road and bridge projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.

The New York State Department of Transportation advised motorists to expect overnight closures on westbound Sunrise Highway (State Route 27) in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, this week, to accommodate bridge maintenance at the Brook Avenue overpass.
Work will start at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning, weather prevailing, between exit 44 (Brentwood Road) and exit 43 (Fifth Avenue).
On Monday and Tuesday nights, all traffic was detoured off the highway at exit 43 onto the North Service Road. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, two lanes will be closed.
Electronic message signs have been posted near the work zone to relay additional information.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
