The Suffolk County Police Department is advising drivers of road closures in Miller Place and Rocky Point on Sunday, March 16, for the annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Closures will be in effect from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During this time, Route 25A from Harrison Avenue in Miller Place east to Broadway Avenue in Rocky Point. The parade begins at 1 p.m.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this period.
Suffolk police stated that both uniformed and plainclothes officers will be present to monitor crowd activities and enforce laws, including those prohibiting open alcoholic beverages.
About the parade: This marks the 73rd annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade, one of the largest on Long Island, typically drawing over 20,000 spectators each year. This year’s co-grand marshals are John and Raymond O’Sullivan, descendants of the parade’s founder, John M. O’Sullivan.
