Nassau County officials are urging fans to prepare for tighter security and slower traffic when President Donald Trump visits Bethpage Black on Friday, Sept. 26, for the opening day of the 2025 Ryder Cup.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder held a press conference in downtown Farmingdale Monday to outline the plan, as well as highlight the contributions of local businesses to the Cup.
Blakeman stressed that preparations are standard and usual for a presidential visit, with coordination across federal, state, and local law enforcement.
“We work very closely with the Secret Service and, as I said, all our federal, state and law enforcement agencies,” Blakeman said.
Ryder noted that while the county is ready.
“We’ve had our meetings, we’ve had our walkthroughs,” he said, through adding fans should expect delays entering the park and be mindful of security rules.
“When the president does come here on Friday we’re going to ask everybody … obviously this is a very intense golf game and people are very emotional, but we’re going to have a lot of security measures in place,” Ryder said. “So it’s going to slow it down a little bit getting into that park, so get there early.”
Bags must be clear (see-through) and meet size requirements, officials said.
Those who don’t comply will not be allowed through checkpoints.
Traffic and parking

Ryder advised fans not to attempt to drive directly to the course.
“You can park down at Jones Beach. You can use Uber as public transportation to get in here,” he said. “I do not advise you try to drive your own car and park close. If you do park on the side streets where the residents live you will be ticketed and towed.”
Blakeman added that shuttle service will be available from Jones Beach, and that carpooling or public transit are strongly encouraged.
“Our police will be out in force to make sure the traffic flows smoothly and rapidly, and that we are all safe and secure during this tournament,” he said.
Last week, Farmingdale Village officials announced anyone caught leaving their car in a municipal parking spot between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, through Sunday, Sept. 28, will be fined $500. Click here to learn more about that.
