Original Post: Patchogue restaurants will be heating up their griddles and shining their egg poachers in anticipation of another 200 people who will be zipping up and down Main Street Oct. 8 for the year’s third Breakfast Crawl.

Participants are also being asked to dress as their favorite Star Wars or comic book characters, organizers said.

Ten locations will be participating in the crawl, which will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and include non-traditional breakfast spots like Kilwins, SubZero Ice Cream, The Cheese Patch and Amazing Olive.

Local favorites Tap Room, Village Idiot Pub, Bobbique, Fulton’s Gate and Goldberg’s Bagels will all be offering up breakfast items to crawlers.

Two newcomers to the village,Toro Tapas & Tequila and Long Island Super Bowls, are also on board.

The first two breakfast crawls were each sold, out the organizers said.

“I think they are popular because there is nothing else like it,” said the event’s founder and chief organizer, Dave Rogers, an artist who lives in Artspace Lofts in the village. “Where else can you go and sample breakfast at different locations in a walk about kind of way?”

Rogers runs the event with the help of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

The crawls all raise money for the arts in Patchogue, with proceeds from the Oct. 8 crawl going toward the Patchogue Arts Festival, which is running village-wide from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31.

Tickets should be made available online at the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce website this Friday, Sept. 18. (Check back for updates.)

It’s $20 to try breakfast at five places, or $40 for all the locations. Some tickets will be set aside and made available the morning of the crawl outside Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Costume prizes will be awarded in the child and adult contest categories, with The Amazing Olive virgin olive oil shop giving out coupons to anyone who’s dressed up.

“We are glad to be able to include new businesses around the village in this event in any way we can,” said Rogers, who noted more locations may be added to the list in the coming days.
