Wahlburgers in Port Jefferson Station to close on Sunday

|

Wahlburgers — the restaurant chain owned by actors and performers Donnie and Mark Wahlberg along with their brother chef Paul Wahlberg — is closing its doors this weekend in Port Jefferson Station.

Sunday will be the restaurant’s last day in operation at 4837 Nesconset Highway.

Little information is available right now but a manager, who asked to remain unnamed, confirmed to GreaterPortJeff that the Port Jeff Station’s Wahlburgers will be closing this weekend.

According to the manager, there may be plans to move New York’s only location elsewhere on Suffolk County, possibly in Commack, but nothing has been set in stone yet.

More information about the closing and new location will be available on the Wahlburgers Facebook page in the coming weeks, the manager said.

Donnie Wahlberg recently visited the location, which opened in 2016 as the first Wahlburgers on Long Island.

Wahlburgers in Port Jefferson Station is a franchised location. A new restaurant by the same owners will be opening in the same space soon. Details about the new place are being kept under wraps for now but gift cards purchased at Wahlburgers will be honored at the new restaurant, according to another employee who gave additional information to GreaterPortJeff.

She called the new place a great new concept but could not give other details, which she said they were saving for the grand opening.

They expect to open in about a month.

The site has been host to a few restaurants over the years. Most recently, before Wahlburgers, it was Eldorado Southern Bar & Grill and Road Trip American Ale House.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
