WAR on Addiction Rally planned for Pennysaver Amphitheater April 21

|

The time to fight back is now.

Town of Brookhaven officials are teaming up with Hope House Ministries to host a WAR on Addiction Rally at the Pennysaver Amphitheater on April 21.

The rally is dedicated to Miller Place’s Billy Reitzig, who overdosed at the age of 25 in 2016.

During the event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 1 Ski Run Lane Farmingville, a litany of local luminaries will speak up about the addiction crisis in the U.S., specifically on Long Island.

“It is designed to generate awareness, educate and raise funds to help with prevention, treatment, recovery, and fundraising — all while advocating public policy change,” reads a statement from the Town of Brookhaven.

All of the money raised will go toward Hope House, funding its efforts to end drug and alcohol abuse.

“No family should have to go through the pain of losing a child to substance abuse or watching them suffer each day,” said Brookhaven Councilwoman Jane Bonner. “Together, we can help our friends and the families who are in crisis. Community support and generosity for this very worthy cause is sincerely appreciated.”
